A kitten is recovering after being tossed from a moving vehicle in Yulee on State Road 200.
The kitten’s new name is Laci and she was named after the woman who spotted her being thrown out of a moving car.
Nancy Douglas with Cat Angels Inc. said she thinks the kitten is about 8 weeks old.
"It's heart-wrenching because there are so many other things you can do," Douglas said.

Laci Casper said she saw something thrown out a window as she was driving on Saturday.
"The vehicle was going at least 45 miles an hour," Douglas said.
And that’s when she saw a kitten rolling underneath cars.
She said she pulled over to rescue the kitten, but it darted into the woods.
Casper then posted to Facebook about the incident and several people helped trap and rescue the kitten after it climbed up into a tree.
"She was not able to turn around and look for the kitty, but with the help social media, about six other people did," Douglas said.

In May, Action News Jax told you about kittens being killed after they were tossed from moving cars in Jacksonville.
Last year at this time, we reported that kittens were being thrown out of moving cars in Jacksonville Beach and on the Southside in Jacksonville.
Douglas said she heard of other cats being thrown out of vehicles in Yulee this weekend and she hopes it’s not a trend.
"You would hope that your fellow human being wouldn't do something like that," Douglas said.
The woman said she believes the kitten was thrown out of a black Jeep.
