JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man accused of shooting a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office detective appeared in a wheelchair Thursday morning in Duval County Court.
Kevin Rojas, 19, is accused of shooting an undercover detective on the morning of March 9. The detective was attempting a traffic stop on Rojas’ car while the detective was taking his son to school.
The detective was shot three times while his son was sitting in the car.
Officer who responded to the incident chased Rojas to his neighborhood where officers fired several shots. Rojas was injured and treated at a hospital.
Rojas faces several charges, including attempted murder.
Rojas was wheeled into the courtroom in a wheelchair. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The victim, who wasn’t named because he is an undercover detective, was released from the hospital on March 18.
Rojas is scheduled to be back in court on April 27.
