Man wrestles with armed gunmen during St. Johns County home invasion

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A man said he wrestled with a home invader after he was pistol-whipped early Friday morning during a robbery at a St. Johns County home.

Deputies released a sketch of one of two suspects who they said barged into a home and took off with money.
Joseph Carlozzi said he woke up to the sound of the men kicking the door.

“The first kick woke me up,” said Carlozzi. “The second kick I stood there in shock.”

Carlozzi, a father of two, said one of the men pointed their pistol right at him before pinning him to the couch.

“One pinned me down on the couch, when he did he was like, ‘give me your money, give me your money,’” said Carlozzi.

He said the robbers got away with $2,000.

“Every time I told them I didn’t have it, I got hit with a pistol,” Carlozzi said.

Carlozzi said he eventually wrestled the gun away but the man grabbed a pool stick and started hitting him with it.

“I got several staples, four to five of them,” Carlozzi said.

He said he was crashing on his friend’s couch and his friend was in another room.

The second suspect fired his gun multiple times but none hit either of the victims.

Carlozzi said he managed to run to safety and his friend is OK after the two gunmen ran off.

Deputies said the suspect who can be seen in the sketch is described as 6 feet tall with curly brown hair. He was carrying a silver pistol.

The other suspect is a white man around 5 feet 6 inches tall. He was carrying a dark pistol.

Deputies said the men were picked up by an '80s or '90s model white Honda or Toyota with a dark rocker panel and loud muffler.
