GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. — Police are searching for a local mother who hasn’t been seen in more than a week.
Investigators suspect foul play in Linda Mansfield’s disappearance. Action News Jax learned her son, John Roosevelt, 49, is in custody accused of stealing from her after police believe she vanished.

“They were like two kids that just fought all the time,” says Harriet Boatright, a neighbor.
Neighbors paint a picture of a complicated relationship between Mansfield, 72, and her son, Roosevelt.
“it’s a love hate relationship,” says Boatright.
For more than a week Mansfield has been missing. Just days before she disappeared, police say Mansfield canceled her credit card. She complained that her son was stealing from her. A case worker from Adult Protective Services says she last heard from Mansfield on May 17 and went to her home to follow up on her complaint. When she got to the home, Mansfield’s son said she had gone to Savannah with a friend, but didn’t have any other information.

“Who is this lady?” said Carol Easterly, a neighbor.
Her dogs, phone and car were still at her house – something neighbors say is out of character.
“I just know something is wrong,” Easterly said.
Mansfield’s case worker called her bank and was told her son Roosevelt had written several checks to himself since May 17. Roosevelt is in jail on forgery charges.
Action News Jax looked into his background and found out he’s been in jail at least five times. His charges range from burglary to theft.
“I love you Linda, if you can see or hear us, call us,” Easterly said.
Roosevelt’s arrest on those forgery and theft charges happened on Tuesday. Action News Jax reached out to police to see if they are questioning him in connection to his mother’s disappearance, but are waiting to hear back.
