JACKSONVILLE, Fl. — University of North Florida police are asking the public to be on the lookout for a 20-year-old student who is missing.
George Louissaint, Jr. was last seen at The Flats at UNF apartments early Sunday morning.
Louissaint’s father told Action News Jax his son had been seen leaving a party there around 3 a.m.
“His friend said he turned around and George disappeared and that was the last they’d seen or heard of him,” said George Louissaint, Sr.
According to an alert issued by the university, Louissaint made a phone call to his sister around 3 a.m.
His family contacted authorities a couple of hours later when they couldn't make contact with him, expressing concern about his well-being.
A dive team with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office searched ponds nearby the apartment complex Sunday evening.
UNF Police said this water search was only precautionary. Louissaint’s father said the family told detectives his son doesn’t swim well.
The 20-year-old’s family drove up from South Florida to help with the search. Louissaint’s father said it would be out of character for his son to just disappear.
“He’s not aggressive, a very sweet kid,” said Louissaint, Sr. “Any one of his friends will tell you he’s the sweetest guy in the world.”
Louissaint, Jr. was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and khaki pants. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact UPD at (904) 620-2800 or the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office at (904) 630-0500.
