UPDATE: The paraprofessional from Yulee Primary accused of making threatening phone calls was fired. Danielle Avitable will have reaction from parents on FOX10 Action News Jax at 10 and CBS47 Action News Jax at 11.

A Nassau County paraprofessional is being investigated by the Nassau County School Board after a recording of a threatening phone call surfaced.

This is the second investigation into the teacher’s aide this school year.

“I had to keep my mouth shut for a long time ‘cause the investigation. The investigation is over, so it’s on now,” Stephanie Vanzant Tyler allegedly said during a phone call.

The recorded phone call that’s circulating on social media was allegedly made by Tyler, a Yulee Primary School paraprofessional.

“You want to start some s**t, you got some s**t now,” Tyler allegedly said.

Aubrey Wright, a former paraprofessional, said she worked alongside Tyler in a special needs classroom.
Wright said she got a phone call from Tyler last month.

“It’s freedom of speech. You don’t like it, then move the f**k out of this country,” Tyler allegedly said.

Wright said the issues started after she went to the school board claiming Tyler was abusing children in the class.

Action News Jax first told you about the Florida Department of Children and Families investigation in September and in November, Action News Jax reported that no evidence of abuse was found in that investigation.

Now, the school board is looking into the phone call allegedly made by Tyler.

“We did what we had to do to make our class work and yes, we have to be strict and that’s how it is,” Tyler allegedly said.

Nassau County schools spokesperson Mark Durham said Tyler hasn’t been back in the classroom since before Thanksgiving break while the investigation is ongoing.

"I think that the kids will be better off now that Stephanie is not in the classroom," Wright said.

A petition to terminate Tyler has close to 600 signatures.

"A lot of people have commented on it saying she needs to go, so hopefully the school board sees that," Wright said.

Action News Jax went to Tyler’s home to get her side of the story, but was told to leave.

Wright said parents plan to bring the petition and their concerns to the school board during Thursday night’s meeting.
