Neighbors: Road consistently blocked by train in Jacksonville's Dinsmore neighborhood

Neighbors in one North Jacksonville community say a CSX train has blocked their path in and out of their community for at least an hour a day all year long.

“I mean it literally stops,” for hours at a time, said Jon Manuel. “This has been ongoing for the whole year."

Manuel said it has been happening every day at the same time. Manuel said it’s like clockwork: around 5 p.m., a CSX train will cross the tracks on Trout River Boulevard near Moncrief Dinsmore Road, but then slows down and stops for hours.

Action News Jax experienced the wait firsthand on Thursday, as crews were heading to cover another story.

So Friday, we decided to come back, and Friday night at 5 p.m., the train arrived and stopped.

We waited 40 minutes until it finally moved. It’s a trend Sharon Welsh is getting tired of.

“This happens every single, solitary day. Every day. Numerous times a day. We have appealed to our congressman, we have appealed to our council members,” Sharon Welsh said.

Neighbors say they received no answers from council members or CSX.

“The people of CSX need to be a little more concerned about the other man. The American public, we take care of them, if it wasn’t for us, they would not have a business,” Manuel said.

We called and e-mailed a CSX spokesperson multiple times, even calling the after hours hotline, but haven’t heard back as of late Friday night.
