New charges against suspect in Walmart gropings

Investigators plan to file new criminal charges against a man accused of groping young girls at a Walmart in Middleburg due to new claims from a third teenaged girl.

Deputies arrested 55-year-old Marco Evora last week when two girls at the Walmart on Branan Field Road said a man touched them inappropriately.

According to the report, Evora cornered two junior high school-aged girls in the cosmetics section last Tuesday, lifted their shirts and kissed their stomachs after they refused to go his home for pizza, ice cream and movies.

Authorities said Monday another teen girl picked Evora out of a lineup, saying he groped her on the same day as the other girls.  Investigators said surveillance video confirmed the incident.

Clay County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Mary Justino said Evora will face a charge of simple battery in addition to the two counts of lewd and lascivious conduct.

Evora, from El Salvador, appeared in court over the weekend. He will be arraigned on April 30.  He is being held at the Clay County Jail on a $200,000 bond.
