Police have identified two people who may be connected to a deadly shooting Saturday at a Lake City hotel but have not yet released their names.
Officers found a person dead in the Ramada Inn parking lot on W. U.S. 90 around 9:30 a.m. after reports of a shooting.
Officers evacuated people and established a perimeter after they learned the suspect might have returned to the hotel.
A Baker Correctional Center K-9 unit and Columbia County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team searched the area but didn’t find a suspect or weapon.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement crime scene investigation unit gathered forensic evidence and the State Attorney’s Office is also working with Lake City police on the case.
Lake City police said releasing the identities of the persons-of-interest could jeopardize the case.
The identity of the victim is not yet available pending notification of next-of-kin.
