Updated story:

A SWAT team surrounded a Jacksonville home after a bank several miles away was robbed on Friday morning.

Sky Action News Jax flew above the scene at Ricker Road and Patrice Court, where a SWAT team was called after a man barricaded himself inside the home.

Officers said an investigation into the bank robbery at Wells Fargo led them to the area where the man was barricaded inside the home.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said the man opened the door to the home and shot at officers at some point during the investigation. The same man opened the door a second time and an officer shot several times at the man.

Officers had been calling the man's phone as well as ordering him out of the home.

Officers said the man called and apologized to family members while he was in the house. Officers said the man told family members that he was going to kill himself.

Officers forced their way into the home to find the man dead in the house. They said he suffered a gunshot wound, but investigators are still determining whether it was self-inflicted.

A witness told Action News Jax that she heard five gunshots in the neighborhood. Officers could not confirm if shots were fired.

Officers said no one else was in the home at the time of the death, but a woman and children were in the house earlier.

Officers said they could not yet confirm whether the man was connected to the earlier bank robbery a few miles from the house.

Another woman said she woke up to police calling out to a suspect, then an officer knocked on her window.

She said the officer told her that she needed to leave and he couldn't guarantee her safety.

Officers surrounded the home after Wells Fargo at 4206 San Juan Ave. was robbed at about 9:15 a.m. The bank is approximately five miles from the neighborhood. JSO said the same bank was robbed on Feb. 17.

Officers said a man walked into the bank with a gun and demanded money from a bank teller.

He fled the bank after the teller gave him money, officers said.

JSO said officers will be outside the home on Ricker Road until the situation ends.

They said no one in the area is in danger.
