Car thieves targeting gyms in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Officers are searching for two men who they say stole cars from people as they worked out at gyms in Jacksonville.

Officers said Jamari Brooks, 18, and a man who has not yet been identified have distracted people as they worked out and searched through lockers at three gyms in Jacksonville for car keys.

Using the key fobs, they found and stole cars from gyms on Blanding Boulevard, 103rd Street and Beach Boulevard, police said.

Officers are encouraging people to use locks on gym lockers and refrain from leaving bags with car keys inside laying around.
