A woman was killed after she ran into a car head-on near a St. Johns County elementary school.
Danielle Billings, 32, was in a 2014 Ford Fiesta when she crossed into another lane and struck a Kia driven by Miguel Lopez, 23, of Jacksonville, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Billings was killed. Kaitlin Cohn, a 17-year-old passenger in the Kia, was critically injured, the FHP said. Cohn was taken by helicopter to Orange Park Medical Center.
The accident happened shortly before 7 a.m.

The accident was near Wards Creek Elementary. School district officials said bus drop off times at elementary and high schools may be affected by the crash, but no students were involved.

Dropoff times will likely be the most delayed at Nease High School because busses from Wards Creek also service the high school. Middle schools will not be affected.

Deputies are asking drivers to avoid the area and said they will advise when lanes reopen.
