Police report never filed in St. Johns Town Center assault captured in undated viral video

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Video of an assault in a St. Johns Town Center parking lot is raising eyebrows. It shows a man running up and punching a woman.

The viral video has some concerned about safety. Action News Jax has learned no police report was filed.

The video shows the incident taking place in a parking lot at the Markets at Town Center. The property manager said management wasn't even aware the assault happened on its property.

It's shocking and hard to watch: A woman is seen walking away when a man runs up behind her and punches her in the back of the head, sending her falling to the ground.

People rush to help her, as many others stand around and watch, while someone keeps recording. The video is making its way throughout social media.

The video was shared on YouTube by a user named Ann Biddy, but on the lower left hand corner it's labeled flyheight.com, an entertainment website.

The people in the video are still unknown, along with when the video was taken.

The backdrop of the video shows several stores located at the Markets at Town Center

and one angle shows it happened in a parking lot not far from Suite, a nightclub on Big Island Drive.

We reached out to Genesis Real Estate Advisers LLC, which manages the property, and sent the company the video to see if management was aware the assault happened on its property.

We received this email from a representative:

"I do not know when this video was taken, but it is old, probably over a year old.

"I know this because the area shown has been under construction for months and has fencing and scaffolding set up.

"I don't have any information on this incident.  Sorry I can't help."

We also spoke to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, which confirmed that a report was not filed about the incident. We were also told by security personnel that they didn't know it had happened.
