Jacksonville community leaders concerned after girl 'gang' rap video goes viral

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The recent sights and sounds of a rap video made by a group of local girls is going viral, but the concern is the violence they are speaking about is becoming more than just music.

“I got to be honest with you, when I saw first the video and it was all females, and young girls, I was actually shocked,” said Action News Jax Crime and Safety Expert Ken Jefferson.

Jefferson said he was shocked and disturbed just minutes after we showed him video of a local group of teen girls. In the video they call themselves ‘The Real Fine Girl’ group.

Action News Jax blurred their faces because they are teens and they’re not accused of a crime. But Jefferson said the punches thrown and language we had to bleep out, paint a different picture.

“The behavior that they're exhibiting shows that they a nature for violence, if it came to that,” said Jefferson.

The video was in retaliation to another group of teen girls calling themselves FGG or Fine Girl Gang, according to a local gang intervention group. Although having teen girl gangs in Jacksonville are pretty new, Jefferson said getting a head start to stopping these gangs is key.

“Hopefully JSO is aware of this trend that's going on. Generally, they're sending a message to a person or organization or another gang,” said Jefferson.

Jefferson said they’re spreading that message through these rap videos, but he said there’s a deeper message, being portrayed through this little girl dancing and being associated with this group.

“They're recruiting, they're providing a false image of reality to these little children,” said Jefferson.

We spoke to two mothers that have girls in that music video. They say their daughters are not in a gang. They say the video was just for fun.
