Robbery, abduction suspect turns self in to Baker County authorities

BAKER COUNTY, Fla. — A man turned himself in to authorities after a 24-hour crime spree that spanned three counties.

The Baker County Sheriff's Office said Cornelius Ruise turned himself in just before 10 p.m. on Sunday.

Officers say he lured a female pizza driver to a home at 4611 Lane Avenue South, where he pointed a rifle at her and ordered her into her own car.

The victim told police that Ruise told her he intended to drive the car to Lake City to kill someone.

The delivery driver jumped out of the trunk of the car as Ruise drove down the interstate.

Later that night, Ruise attempted to rob a Dollar General in Union County then set fire to the woman's car in Baker County.

His mother pleaded for him to turn himself in on Sunday.

He was with family when he surrendered at the Baker County Sheriff's Office.
