Couple charged in connection with missing Jacksonville woman's remains found in Ohio

Remains found in a wooded area in Ohio have been identified as a missing Jacksonville woman more than 1 1/2 years after she was last seen.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A couple faces charges in connection with the death of Tiffany Chambers, according to court records.

Hannah M. Whitman, 34, of Springfield, Ohio, is charged with complicity to aggravated murder and tampering with evidence. She was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Clark County Jail, according to court documents.

Prentiss Hare is charged with aggravated murder and is also in the Clark County Jail.

Investigators said the skeletal remains found in a wooded area in Ohio belong to Chambers, a Jacksonville woman who was last seen in July 2015.

Chambers was reported missing from Springfield, Ohio. Her remains were found in a wooded area on May 1, 2016, and were later identified.

Court documents said Chambers traveled with Hare from Jacksonville to Springfield, arriving in the area on July 16, 2015.

Witnesses told authorities that Hare and his girlfriend, Whitman, planned to kill Chambers, possibly because Chambers owed money to Hare, officials said.

A witness told authorities that Whitman and Hare attacked and killed Chambers, dumping her body in a wooded area in Greene County, Ohio.
