Original story

Jacksonville police are investigating a suspicious package Saturday at the IKEA, police said.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said it received a call at 2:50 p.m. from IKEA management about a suspicious package at the store.

Investigators have yet to determine how the store was made aware of the package.

Once police arrived at the store, they found the suspicious item in the parking lot, the Sheriff's Office said. Employees and shoppers were evacuated from the store, police said.

Investigators said some customers weren't able to drive away because of the location of the suspicious package.

The Jacksonville Transportation Authority provided buses for about 100 employees and customers who were displaced. Police said they’re all staying on the buses. This option was to ensure people could get out of the cold.

All lanes at Gate Parkway from I-295 are closed due to the reported threat, police said.
