3 Texas men arrested in shooting after white nationalist Richard Spencer speech at UF

Gainesville police are set to release more details after three men were arrested in connection to a shooting at a bus stop following a speech by white nationalist Richard Spencer.

Tyler Tenbrink  28, William Fears, 30, and Colton Fears 28, are in the Alachua County Jail on charges of attempted homicide after they were accused of getting argument with another group of people that led to a shooting.

Gainesvile police said the men are from Texas. Police said that at least two of the three men involved have connections to extremist groups. Tenbrink is a convicted felon and faces additional charges of possession of a firearm by convicted felon.

Police said the shooting happened at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday at a bus stop near 34th and Archer Street, which is about two miles from the University of Florida.

The victim was sitting at the bus stop after the Richard Spencer speaking event when someone from a moving car shouted, "Hail Hitler!" and other chants toward a group of people.

The group and the suspects got into an argument, leading Tenbrink to take out a gun and fire a single shot at the group, Gainesville Police said in their report.

The suspects then fled in a silver Jeep.

A witness in the group was able to provide officers with a license plate tag and quickly locate the vehicle later that evening a few miles north of the bus stop location.

The Fears brothers are under $1 million bond, and Tenbrink is under a $3 million bond.

Gainesville Police said no one was injured during the shooting.
