3 pedestrians killed in two separate incidents in Jacksonville

A total of three pedestrians were killed in two unrelated crashes in Jacksonville on Saturday night and Sunday morning, authorities said.

A man was struck and killed by a 2002 Crown Victoria while walking on the Interstate 95 exit ramp to Zoo Parkway around 10:30 p.m. Saturday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Donald Wade Goodwin, 39, was struck by a car driven by Skakina Nicole Bradham, 31. After Goodwin was hit, Bradham didn't stop and continued traveling north on the Zoo Parkway exit ramp.

Goodwin was also hit by a semi-tractor-trailer after the initial impact with Bradham's car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Around 2:20 a.m. Sunday, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office went to the scene of a double fatality traffic accident at the intersection of New Kings Road and and Finch Avenue.

Two pedestrians were struck and killed by a car carrying two people, the Sheriff's Office said. The two individuals in the car were injured and taken to the hospital.

JSO didn't identify any of the people involved in the incident. Police told Action News Jax one vehicle was involved, but two SUVs were towed away.

Investigators aren’t sure if the pedestrians were trying to cross the road.

“You got to run, you got to jump out the way, you got to be very cautious and pay attention,” said Joseph Hughes, who crosses at New Kings Road and and Finch Avenue every morning. He said he’s not only concerned about his safety, but his wife’s.

“She works down there, and has to cross it every morning. I ... (am) so scared for my wife,” he said.

Hughes said there are too many people walking to work or to the bus stop for there not to be a crosswalk.

“I feel sad for the families, but we got to do something about it. We got to do something or some more are going to lose their lives,” Hughes said.
