ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — An Uber driver handcuffed and detained a robbery suspect who was trying to enter one of his patron's houses in St. Johns County.
The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office said the Uber driver was giving a ride to four passengers on May 30.
When he pulled up to their destination on Boating Club Road, he saw a man looking into the window and trying to enter the home through the door.
The customer told the Uber driver that he didn’t know the man, deputies said.
The Uber driver confronted the man, who was identified as 21-year-old Cody Woods.
Deputies said Woods started to walk away when the driver placed him on the ground and restrained him with handcuffs until SJSO arrived.
The four witnesses, who were riding in the Uber vehicle, told deputies the same chain of events, SJSO said.
Woods was arrested and charged with attempted burglary.
