JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two teens are dead after a Northside shooting that police believe may have been part of a possible ongoing gun battle.
One victim was found laying in the road at 2nd Avenue shortly before 2 p.m.
Another teen, a passenger in an SUV, was found dead at Lem Turner Road and Rowe Avenue after the driver of the vehicle flagged down an off-duty officer.
Police said the teen found dead in the road was talking to the driver and passenger of the SUV on 2nd Avenue when someone opened fire on them.
Police do not know if the shooter was on foot or in a car.
Lt. Ellis Burns said the two people who were shot and killed are 17 and 18 years old. A weapon was found in the SUV, according to police.
The shooting may be gang or group related, according to Burns. Police said the driver of the SUV is cooperating with police.
Officers are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
