Victory Casino Cruises relocates Jacksonville-based ship because of 'weather conditions'

Victory Casino Cruises said it has relocated its Jacksonville-based ship to Cape Canaveral because of intense marine weather conditions.

The Jacksonville-based ship Victory 2 was reassigned to Port Canaveral because of "normal intense marine weather conditions" during the winter months in Jacksonville, the company said.

The company's CEO said there were too many cancelations in Jacksonville due to high seas and so far at Port Canaveral, they have not had one cancelation.

The Jacksonville-based cruise ship will sail out of Port Canaveral with the company's other ship, Victory 1.

The company said it is adding six new cruises to Port Canaveral's weekly schedule with the addition of Victory 2.

The company's CEO said the ship was originally moved from Jacksonville to replace their Port Canaveral cruise ship as it was being inspected.

The decision to keep the ship in Port Canaveral is based on the financial success and so the company will temporarily operate both boats out of Port Canaveral.

The 80 to 100 employees in Jacksonville were given the chance to keep their job in Port Canaveral and those who did not are laid off and will be given their job back when the ship returns.

The company said it does not have an estimated date for when the ship will return to Jacksonville.
