Woman hid hypodermic needle in vagina at Putnam County Jail, police say

Atarah Wright

A 24-year-old woman was taken to the Putnam County Jail after a powdery substance was spotted in her during a traffic stop, a police report said.

Atarah Wright was pulled over because her Chevy SUV only had one functioning headlight, police said.

Wright didn't have a valid driver's license, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said. Wright was arrested after an officer found a substance suspected to be cocaine.

Wright's car also had meth and hypodermic needle in the car, authorities said.

While being searched at the jail, authorities found two Dilaudid pills in her vagina, along with a hypodermic needle, police said.

Wright was charged with cocaine possession, meth possession and smuggling contraband. She is being held on $14,000 bond.
