Police hear elderly couple crying from loneliness, cook them a meal

ROME — A group of Italian police officers is going viral after its good deed touched hearts around the world.

According to a Facebook post by the police department, four officers were called to the home of an elderly couple. A neighbor reported hearing screaming and crying coming from the apartment.

Jole, 84, and her husband, 94-year-old Michele, live alone. According to the post, they both started to cry while watching heartbreaking stories on the news.

When officers arrived, they didn’t find any danger. Instead, they found a lonely elderly couple who hadn’t had any visitors in a long while.

The officers stayed and fixed the couple a simple meal: spaghetti with butter and cheese. They all sat together and chatted for a while before parting ways.
