JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — More than 3,400 lionfish were removed during the 2016 lionfish blast.
Fishermen hunted for lionfish in the St. Johns River Inlet, St. Augustine Inlet and Fernandina Inlet during the "blast.”
Patrick McCarver was named the winner on Saturday. He speared a 2. 79 pound lionfish, which was the biggest in the tournament.
McCarver captured 751 fish in total.
