ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — Hurricane Matthew unearthed a car that may have been under a St. Johns County sand dune for decades.
Jeff Greene said he came across the car near Matanzas Inlet.
Greene tells Action News Jax he was looking for debris and storm damage when he came across the chassis and four tires still partially buried by sand.

Greene, a Summer Haven native, said the car may have been under a 10-foot sand dune since Hurricane Dora in 1964.
“It was an Indiana Jones moment, finding an artifact covered up for quite some time,” Greene said.
Action News Jax reporter Cole Heath took pictures of the old car to experts with the St. Augustine Cruisers classic car club.
“Any idea what this is?” Heath asked club member Edgar Wynne.

“A Ford or GM, but there is no way to know without pulling the frame apart and checking the serial number,” Wynne said.
The buried car is located about a mile south of where Old A1A ends in in Summer Haven.
If you want to try and find it, be careful because there are broken glass windows still on the vehicle.
