Caribbean restaurant in Baymeadows closed multiple times due to pest control issues

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Health inspectors shut down three restaurants this week for roaches or serious issues with water.

Action News Jax visited Mojito’s Caribbean Cuisine Bar & Grill on Phillips Highway near Baymeadows Road, but the restaurant wasn’t open during its regular business hours.  During a recent health inspection, a health inspector cited Mojito’s for having 20 live roaches and multiple dead roaches.  It was temporarily shut down and allowed to reopen after three follow-up inspections.

At Lucky Garden in St. Augustine, a health inspector discovered undrinkable water, raw food not properly separated in a cooler and grease on the kitchen floor. Lucky Garden was temporarily closed and allowed to reopen after a clean follow-up visit.

At Woody’s Bar-B-Q in MacClenny, an inspector found 10 live roaches. The inspector notes they arrived immediately following a pest control visit, meaning roaches would be coming out of their hiding places. An inspector also noted temperature abuse for more than 12 items that were held too warm, and the hot water supply wasn’t maintained during peak business times. Woody’s was temporarily shut down and reopened after three follow-up inspections.
