JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Neighbors are concerned over a gruesome discovery they made a little too close to home.
On Saturday, Action News Jax showed you how two goats were found dumped on the side of the road in the Grove Park neighborhood. At least one of the goats was beheaded.

On Monday, Action News Jax learned the city disposed of at least one of the goats but a spokesperson wasn’t sure of the whereabouts of the second dead goat.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is not currently investigating the incident. Action News Jax has contacted the Department of Agriculture to see if it has an open case, and we’ll let you know soon as we hear back.
Whoever dumped the animals at the intersection of Crane Avenue and Cranes Landing Court wanted them to be seen because there was no attempt to hide them or cover them up.

Action News Jax spoke to a woman who works just steps away from the scene. She didn’t want to be identified but felt it was important to speak out.
“I would love to see whoever did this is caught and they get the maximum punishment,” said the woman.
On social media, people were outraged. One woman, who claims to work nearby, said, “about a month ago someone dumped a deer or some similar animal.”

Some believe the animals were sacrificed as part of a ritual.
“Hunters don't discard the things that they catch or kill to eat. So if that's hunting or someone that eats goat, that's not how you eat goat,” said the woman.
There’s now a concern that whoever is behind it will hurt another animal.
“Animals depend on us to take care of them and look out for them and whoever did this definitely had terrible, terrible intentions,” the woman said.
JSO said there would need to be evidence of foul play for an investigation to be launched.
