Deadline to sign up for insurance through Affordable Care Act extended

The deadline to sign up for insurance through the Affordable Health Care Act has been extended.

The deadline was set for Dec. 15, but that deadline has now been extended until 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 19.

The staff at Florida Assurance Group have worked nonstop, signing up people for Affordable Health Care.

So far, about 4 million people nationwide have already signed up for coverage.

The local office in Jacksonville said staff members have registered hundreds of people Thursday alone.

President-elect Donald Trump and members of Congress have threatened to get rid of the Affordable Care Act, but the office said if you register now, your coverage will be fine.

“The coverage is valuable. I experienced that last year, had some health challenges, and without the insurance, I can’t imagine what the out of pocket cost would have been,” said Jeanine Michael.

The office is located at 1225 West Beaver Street- Suite 204-A. The office number is 904-265-4753.

The Florida Care Team hotline will remain active until the Marketplace closes. Events include:

  • Dec.16 - Beaver Street Enterprises 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Dec.17 - Prime Osborn Conventional 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Dec.18 - Beaver Street Enterprises 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Dec.19 - Beaver Street Enterprises 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
