Deputies: Nassau County woman left children in hot car while visiting husband in jail

A Yulee woman is accused of leaving three young children in a locked, hot car while visiting her husband in jail.

Alison Johnson, 29, has been arrested for child neglect.

Her arrest report says a Corporal noticed the three young children in the car, unattended Sunday outside of the Nassau County Jail.

The front passenger window was cracked about 1 ½ inches, but the vehicle was otherwise locked and not running. The children were also strapped in to car seats.

Investigators say Johnson admitted to leaving the kids in the car because she didn’t think they were allowed inside of the Jail.

The report notes that there is a sign on the side of the Jail that specifically says no children under 18 should be left unattended.

The ages of the children involved in this case have been redacted from the report.

The arrest report says temperatures in the car ranged from 91 degrees in the back seat to 131 degrees in the front seat.

The children are believed to have been in the car about 28 minutes, but were found in good condition.

The car was locked and the engine was off. The arrest report says temperatures in the car ranged from 91 to 131 degrees:
