A woman was hit and killed while trying to cross Interstate 95 on Monday night near downtown Jacksonville.
Deborah Lee Tompkins, 59, of Jacksonville, was attempting to cross I-95 near Forsyth Street, according to a release from the Florida Highway Patrol.
Tompkins was struck on her left side by a 2013 Toyota Corolla, driven by 20-year-old Courtney Lynn Richmond of Jacksonville.
Richmond's car continued northbound on I-95 to her home, where the car was later located, FHP said.
Charges are pending, according to the FHP release.
