Flagler County man takes $65K Ford truck from St. Augustine dealership at gunpoint

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — Carjacked at gunpoint at a local car dealership: Deputies say it happened to a St. Augustine car salesman Tuesday morning.

Deputies say 21-year-old Trenard Williams, of Flagler County, first stole a pistol and bullets from a Gander Mountain sporting goods store.

While Williams was in their store, Gander Mountain employees called 911 to report Williams taking the gun.

Williams then walked next door to the Bozard Ford Dealership and stole a brand new truck. But he wasn’t on the run long, according to deputies.

Deputies say Williams pointed a gun at a salesman at the dealership before stealing a new custom $65,000 Ford F-350 pick-up truck. Several people captured the takedown on cellphone video:

“The gentleman was carrying a gun, my salesman didn’t realize it at the time,” Bozard general sales manager Jesse Scheff said.

Scheff said he witnessed his co-worker being held at gunpoint.

“[Williams] pulled out the gun, got the keys from the salesman halfway in the car. A few moments later, he started to drive away,” Scheff said.

Responding deputies immediately stopped the truck at gunpoint and arrested Williams moments later outside the dealership.

Williams is locked up, charged with several felonies, including resisting an officer without violence and carjacking with a firearm.

We went through a public records search on Williams and found an arrest for petit theft in Flagler County in 2014.

Williams is due in court Wednesday.
