Florida deputies find drugs, 80 fighting chickens at man's home

A 50-year-old man was arrested after officers found drugs and more than 80 fighting chickens on his property in Union County, authorities said.

A SWAT team served a search warrant at Eric Cox's home off County Road 791 Tuesday after lengthy investigation and surveillance into illegal drug sales and illegal animal fighting at the property.

Investigators found drugs and more than 80 fighting chickens at the home, according to Union County Sheriff's Office.

Cox was charged with five felony counts of illegal drug and alcohol possession and intent to distribute illegal drugs.

Deputies said he could also be charged with more than 80 felony counts of illegal animal fighting.

Animal services seized the fighting chickens and six pit bulls from Cox's property.
