Woman who worked in Putnam County Jail kitchen accused of having sex with inmate

A woman who worked inside the Putnam County Jail is accused of having sex with an inmate and sneaking cigarettes into the jail.

Regina Webb, 43, was arrested Wednesday afternoon on allegations of sexual misconduct and bringing contraband into the jail.

She works for a company that provides meals for inmates.

Deputies began investigating “suspicious interactions between Webb and an adult male inmate who was assigned to work in the facility kitchen,” according to a release from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators found that Webb and the inmate had consensual sex twice inside the jail and that Webb brought cigarettes to the inmate at least twice.

“Because Webb’s employment with the vendor placed her in a position of authority over the inmate, any sexual contact is a violation of Florida statute even if the act is consensual,” PCSO said in its news release.

Webb is being held on $20,000 bond and will not be allowed to continue working in the jail.
