Four stranded after ship sinks rescued by Coast Guard off Georgia coast

GEORGIA — The United States Coast Guard rescued four people after their ship sank off the coast of Georgia, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says. The people were able to swim to a nearby buoy and cling to it while waiting for help.

They were also able to send a distress signal from a registered Search And Rescue Satellite Aided Tracking (SARSAT) System emergency beacon.
