Help for Harvey: Give blood with Action News Jax at Everbank Field

Join Action News Jax, our Cox Media Group radio partners, OneBlood and SMG's Everbank Field to help victims of Hurricane Harvey.

Three blood mobiles will be parked in lot J at Everbank Field this Friday from 12 to 7 p.m. OneBlood, the local blood center serving Jacksonville and the Southeastern United States has already sent nearly 300 units of blood to Texas and will continue to assist for as long as needed. Texas-based chain Whataburger will be at the drive from 4-6 p.m. with goodies for all of the donors.

You can book an appointment at the blood buses for tomorrow by clicking here.

Rising flood waters and massive destruction is preventing blood centers in Texas from being able to collect blood. To ensure enough blood is available locally and for Texas, OneBlood is urging all eligible donors to donate blood as soon as possible.

While all blood types are needed, there is an urgent call for O negative and O positive blood, as well as platelets and plasma donations.Generally healthy people age 16 or older who weigh at least 110 pounds can donate blood. Photo ID is required.
