Hurricane Irma victim continues pay it forward at Jacksonville Chick-fil-A drive-through

Jacksonville resident Ashlie Johnson posted photos of damage in her neighborhood following Hurricane Irma.

A customer at a Jacksonville Chick-fil-A drive-through inspired a woman affected by Hurricane Irma to continue paying it forward to others in the line.

Ashlie Johnson thanked a driver Friday on Facebook who was in front of her in the drive-through of Chick-fil-A location on San Jose Boulevard.

In her post, she said that when she pulled up to the window, a Chick-fil-A employee said her meal had been paid for by the previous drive-through customer. She said the employee told her the driver hoped others would continue to pay it forward.

She said she was both shocked and delighted by the kind gesture, especially while being "in limbo" after Hurricane Irma slammed the state two weeks ago.

Johnson said she had evacuated from her neighborhood, which was flooded during the storm, and has yet to return to it.

"And to think, we are one of the LUCKY ones on our street(...)," she said in her post. "All around us neighbors are having to gut and rebuild their homes, to replace many, if not all, of their belongings."

Johnson said the driver who paid for her meal is a reminder that there is much to be thankful for after the storm.

Johnson said she paid for the next person's meal to continue paying it forward to others.
