Neighbors who live on the coast of Vilano Beach say the view is both beautiful and scary.
One neighbor said he's seen about 8 feet of shoreline disappear in the three years since he moved here.
“What we’ve seen this season is quite a bit of erosion,” said homeowner Mike Radzinski.
Action News Jax walked along the shore line and saw beach walkways destroyed.
Mike Radzinski built his home in Vilano Beach about three years ago.
“We’ve had people that have installed sea walls to protect the amount of beach that they have that’s holding up their homes,” said Radzinski.
With Hurricane Matthew moving closer to Northeast Florida, our First Alert Weather Team says the beaches will take a pounding.

The communications director for St Johns County spoke about what they’re doing about erosion before and after the storm.
“We are taking surveys of all of our beaches and after the storm passes we will reevaluate how it impacted it and address those areas,” said Communications Director Michael Ryan.
Radzkinski says he and his neighbors worry what the shoreline will look like in a few days.
The county also said erosion closed off some beach access to drivers.
