Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp announce name finalists for new mascot

The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp announced Thursday the finalists from fan-submitted names for the team's new Shrimp mascot.

The team got more than 2,000 name submissions for the new mascot.

The five name finalists for the Shrimp mascot are:

• Jimbo
• Mayport
• Rocky
• Scampi
• Shelley

People can vote at www.jaxshrimp.com through April 11, to select the name for the mascot, who will join returning mascot Southpaw to entertain Jumbo Shrimp fans

The winning name will be unveiled on opening night April 12.
