JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Police are investigating after a man was shot in the chest Thursday morning in the area of North Main Street.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded around 6:30 a.m. to a reported aggravated battery call on North Main Street near Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway.
The victim told officers that he was shot in the chest at a residence in the area of North Main and 21st streets. He ran from the shooter and collapsed at 19th and Main streets.
The victim was taken to UF Health Jacksonville for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
The owner of a nearby business stayed with the victim until police and rescue units arrived.
There is no suspect information or don't know a motive at this time.
JSO is continuing to investigate.
