Jacksonville police search for man accused of killing 1 sister, hurting another in shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A manhunt is underway for the gunman police say is wanted in connection to the shooting of two sisters.

He’s accused of killing Ashlee Rucker and leaving her sister Lisa in critical condition.

"I want Chad's name to be out there, his name and his picture," said Jennifer Parang, Ashlee and Lisa's sister.

Caught and behind bars is the one wish Parang is asking for.

“This piece of sh-t, Chad Absher, has been abusing my sister, my little sister, for years. This poor of excuse of a man was beating her like she was a man,” Parang said.

Parang said Absher, her sister’s ex-boyfriend, shot and killed her sister Ashlee and also shot her other sister, Lisa, Tuesday morning.

“She got in the middle, she was shot in the mouth and there is a bullet lodged in her cheek, I believe, but it just narrowly missed her spine. She’s in critical condition, I don’t know if she’s going to make it,” Parang said.

Police say Absher is wanted for murder, attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Parang said he showed up to the apartment last week with a gun threatening both of her sisters. She said her sister didn’t press charges at the time, now she wishes she did.

“To kill her, while her son was right there? This guy is on the run, the police know it was him, because there have been other domestic violence situations,” Parang said.

Action News Jax did some digging and found out that this is not Absher’s first run in with the law. In 2016, he was arrested for trespassing and earlier in 2017, he was arrested for domestic violence involving his ex-girlfriend.
