Police say Buckman was shot once in the abdomen during the incident.

He had surgery and is still in critical but stable condition at the hospital, at last check.

Police records show Buckman as a convicted felon and was carrying a .44-caliber revolver during the incident, which police later recovered at the scene.

He was charged with possession of a firearm and resisting an officer.

Police say his criminal history includes 12 adult arrests dating back to 2006.

His previous charges include burglary, sexual battery, resisting police officers, loitering, introducing contraband into a detention facility, drug possession and sale, trespassing and felony battery and assorted traffic charges.

Police say he also has “numerous” juvenile arrests as well.

JSO said they are continuing to search for two other men who were also in the 2018 Nissan Sentra.

“We have developed investigative leads into the identity of that driver and will be following up on that,” Director of Investigations and Homeland Security Ron Lendvay said.

This is the first officer-involved shooting incident where JSO officers were wearing body cameras. Lendvay said three officers’ camera were taken as evidence.

The officer who shot down Buckman was identified as Joseph Ledyard.

He has been put on administrative leave, which is protocol for an officer-involved shooting.

Lendvay said this is his first officer-involved shooting and been with the department since August 2015.

Anyone with information on this incident is urged to call police or Crime Stoppers, which can remain anonymous.
