JSO says 65-year-old woman accidentally drowned in Argyle Forest neighborhood retention pond

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has said that an accidental drowning has occurred in an apartment complex in the 6400 block of Argyle Forest Boulevard.

At the JSO held press conference, officers stated that at 5:05 p.m. Thursday evening, dispatch received a call from the family of a missing 65-year-old woman.

Officers began searching the area as soon as they arrived. Their search led them to a nearby retention pond, where she was discovered.

She was removed from the water and life saving measures were administered. JFRD transported her to a local hospital were she was pronounced deceased.

Action News Jax reporter Ben Ryan was at the conference and learned that the victim frequently walked around her complex and had no known mental disabilities.

Homicide detectives are currently speaking with family members and attempting to locate any witness or video.

At this time foul play is not suspected.
