Man accused of double fatal hit and run crash enters not guilty plea

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — UPDATE 3/11/2020:

Henry Haigler was sentenced to eight years in a state prison facility for leaving the scene of a deadly crash, a first-degree felony. Upon release, he will serve seven years of probation and his driver’s license will be suspended for 10 years, according to the State Attorney’s Office.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Henry Haigler, the man accused of hitting and killing Susanne Landino and Bonnie Parry as they rode bikes in St. Johns County in June, and leaving the scene of the crash, entered a not guilty plea this afternoon.

“Of course, we offer our deepest condolences,” said Haigler’s attorney, Victoria Mussallem.

Action News Jax told you in June when a warrant was issued for the Haigler’s arrest. He was later released on bond.

Action News Jax Reporter Ryan Nelson spoke to Parry’s sister over the phone this afternoon. She was disheartened to hear Haigler had entered a not guilty plea.

Parry’s family has been writing letters to the court, some reading in part:

"… Henry Haigler should be in jail now… "

and

"Aunt Bonnie was 53, she will not have another birthday, and she will not find love … "

Haigler’s next court appearance is scheduled as an October 1st pre-trial hearing.
