2 men, woman arrested in connection to armed robbery at Sahara Liquor

Two men and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of armed robbery after police say he threatened to shoot someone in Southside Jacksonville liquor store Wednesday night.

Police said they were called to Sahara Liquor on Beach Boulevard at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, where a witness in the store said two people, identified as James Walls and Jennifer Arzt, entered the store and were acting suspiciously.

The witness told police Arzt was distracting him while Walls was stealing liquor bottles in his back pack.

Police reported the witness confronted the man, who they say tried to flee the store. The witness told police he grabbed Walls by his waist to keep him from leaving the store.

He said the Walls and Arzt fled in a vehicle and had a gun. The witness said another man, Edward Elliott, got out of a vehicle, pointed the gun at him and said, "I'll shoot you!"

Police said they were able to match the vehicle's description with one that was parked at the Target parking lot on Monument Road.

Walls and Arzt ran from the vehicle and Elliot led officers on a 5.1 mile chase.

Officers arrested Walls and Arzt after police said they fled on foot from the vehicle. Elliott was captured with the assistance of K-9 officers

Police said they found a crack pipe in Walls' pants after searching his property. Arzt told police she knew Walls was in possession of a gun and said he would "rescue" her in case they were confronted by loss-prevention personnel during the string of thefts.

Walls is also being charged with possessing drug paraphernalia. Elliot is being charged with armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, fleeing from a law enforcement officer and operating a vehicle with a revoked license.
