Man identified in high-quality Jacksonville burglary video arrested

Two days after a homeowner in Mandarin handed video of his home being burglarized over to police, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said they have tracked down the man responsible and arrested him.

"I'm pretty impressed actually," said the homeowner.

The homeowner who was burglarized asked us not to show his face; however the video his smart home security system recorded has been viewed nearly 50,000 times online.

JSO uploaded it to their Facebook page in hopes of circulating tips.

"The camera wasn't hiding at all, it was sitting right on top of the dresser just plugged into the wall. He actually walked up and opened the drawer right there and looked right into the camera."

The homeowner says he bought a Canary smart home security system two months ago and never expected he would need it.

"Obviously, that's pretty violating to see someone going through your belongings; you don't know what they're going to take and you don't know they're rummaging through."

Police identified the suspect as 39-year-old Lorenzo McQueen.

According to this report JSO arrested McQueen after receiving a tip from another homeowner in the same Mandarin neighborhood who caught him in the act and was able to get his license plate number.

Police tracked him down on the Southside.

Then the homeowner then got the call from police he was hoping for.

"I think everybody should protect themselves with something like this."
