A North Carolina man used a stun-gun to ambush a man at a Jacksonville ATM, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said in a report.

JSO said Robert Beatty, 26, waited for a Jacksonville man to walk VyStar ATM on Dunn Ave. Beatty produced a stun gun and shocked the victim twice in the chest, police said.

The man was knocked to the ground, and Beatty straddled him and rummaged through his pants, finding $40 in a wallet, JSO said.

A man named Gerald White rushed to the aid of the victim and was able to get Beatty off him, police said. Beatty then ran off to a Jeep Cherokee driven by a white female.

White gave JSO a partial number of the license plate of the Jeep.

White told police he recognized the pair as a couple he had allowed to stay at his home until he caught them smoking crack cocaine, JSO said.

JSO noted in the police report that White and the victim didn't know each other.
