Man who made woman 'uneasy' at Jacksonville Beach park looked like man in Hanna Park incidents

Action News Jax has learned new details about a man who attacked a woman and exposed himself to another last week at Hanna Park.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said both women gave similar descriptions of the man who approached them.

Action News Jax learned that another woman at Sunshine Park in Jacksonville Beach said a man made her feel uneasy on Wednesday afternoon. She told Jacksonville Beach police that the man looked similar to the composite sketch of the man in the incidents at Hanna Park.

The woman said the man never made contact with her, but followed her to the other side of the track as she was walking and made her feel uneasy.

The woman described him as a Hispanic man in his mid-20s with a short brush-cut hairstyle. He had a stocky build, was 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighed about 180 pounds.

Visitors to Hanna Park are being cautious and paying attention to their surroundings.

Edmari Hernandez came out to have a relaxing day at Hanna Park on Friday but said she's being extra cautious in the wake of last week's incidents.

Hernandez said she encountered a similar situation while she was in college in South Carolina.

"Now that it happened, I know what to do, not that I want to relive that again, but I know what I want to do next," Hernandez said.

In the recent incidents at Hanna Park, one woman was jogging the Z trail on Jan 11 when she was approached by a man asking questions like "What time is it?" According to a police report, the man forced her to the ground and struck her twice in the head.

Another woman was sitting on a park bench at Hanna Park on Jan. 12 when a man approached her. The report said she was concerned for her safety and started to walk back to her campsite when she turned around and saw the man expose and touch himself inappropriately.

Hernandez said she feels like she would know what to do if she were approached by someone who made her feel uncomfortable.

"I'd probably alert more people and more authorities," she said.

Anyone who recognizes the man in the composite sketch is asked to contact JSO at 904-630-0500.
