Orange Park caterer closed for pest control issues

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Only one restaurant was closed this week, and it had a pest control issue.

At Anthony’s Gourmet Catering in Orange Park, a health inspector noted 10 dead roaches and three items--pepper, creamed corn, and diced tomato--with a moldlike growth.

The inspector issued a stop sale on 12 items, including heavy cream, red peppers because of cheese sauce because of serious temperature issues that could have made customers sick.

A follow-up inspection was required, and the business met all inspection standards.

At El Tacontento mobile food unit, a health inspector noted eight live roaches and 12 dead roaches, three cold food items, including cheese, held too warm and there was no sanitizer to wash the dishes. El Tacotento was temporarily shut down, but allowed to reopen after its follow-up inspection.

At Jax Market Place Takeout No. 1 on Pecan Park Road, a health inspector issued a stop sale on tzatziki sauce, and saw an employee working with raw and then ready-to-eat food without washing his or her hands.

The inspector also spotted a live fly by the hand sink. A follow-up inspection is required.
