Power restored to nearly all customers in Jacksonville after Hurricane Matthew

Power has been restored to nearly all customers in Jacksonville after Hurricane Matthew, according to the outage map.

Fewer than five customers are without power in Jacksonville.

A total of 245,000 customers were without power at the height of the outage after Hurricane Matthew.

By Wednesday, power had been restored to 225,000 customers.

JEA officials got slack following the storm for missing a self-imposed deadline for restoration.

The CEO admitted they blew the Monday deadline.

“I don’t have an excuse for that, other than that we thought we would be able to meet that objective,” said JEA CEO Paul McElroy.

JEA said it called on a record amount of resources outside of Florida, from as far as Texas and Oklahoma, to help with restoration.

Mayor Lenny Curry acknowledged that JEA crews were working very hard to get power back on.

He told customers without power to reach out to him directly to make sure they JEA knew their power was out.

JEA posted photos of FPL and other crews ready to leave the area on Saturday.
